Testimonials

Not surprisingly, word of mouth continues to be an especially effective way of telling the world about Capstone Village. Here is how several residents have summed up their satisfaction at living here.

Having The Time Of Her Busy Life

Ida McCampbell taught school for 37 years, and, as she puts it, “I was never one to want to sit down and do nothing.” Soon after moving to Capstone Village, she was involved in an exercise class, workshops on stress management, the river walk group, the book club, and outings to performances on the UA campus. “That’s why I love living here,” she says. “You can stay busy and you don’t ever get lonesome. And, if you want, you can just close your door and read a book.”

Gloria Retired From The Kitchen

When Gloria Chlevin moved here, she traded standing over a hot stove for sitting down to delicious meals from our culinary wizard, Chef Tom Hadden. Now she has time for as much activity as she can cook up, from the Monday bridge group to the Dining room Committee. Of course, she and her husband pursue an array of interests on the UA campus, such as plays, sporting events and classes. Says Gloria, proudly, “There is more here than I can do, and I try to do it all!”

The Reeds Root For The Home Team

John Reed is a former high school P.E. teacher and coach, so when he and his wife, Lynn, heard about Capstone Village they agreed: “Let the games begin!” Now they have UA season tickets for everything from basketball to girls’ gymnastics. John is a full time volunteer, while Lynn pursues bridge, exercise class and her passion for reading. “At 75,” she declares, “you ought to be able to say, ‘I want to do this, and not that.’ Now I’m doing things that are meaningful to me.”

Coming Here Led To Bromley's Going Green

With his lifelong history of civic work, Bromley Dyson was a natural to become a volunteer at Capstone Village. He started the community’s aluminum recycling program, serves on various community committees, and still has plenty of time to attend UA events with his wife, thanks to services such as housekeeping and maintenance. “Living here, we don’t have to worry about the details,” Bromley smiles. Meaning, he can stay 100% focused on what matters most in his retirement: having fun and doing service.
